Creative & Beautiful Acrylic Nail designs

Acrylic nail designs are one of the best option available for ladies to make their fingers look pretty.

Besides the basic manicure, women have got a lot of options when it comes to choosing how to get their nails done.

For those considering the artificial route, you may have to choose between acrylic and gel nails.

The two may be totally different, but both of them refer to the artificial nails that manicurists place over natural ones to make them appear modish and longer.

What are Acrylic nails?

Acrylic nails are made by combining a powder polymer and liquid monomer to create a protective layer over natural fingernails. They are usually transparent and have to be exposed to air to harden.

The chemical used in the application process often emit a strong odour. These emissions are completely harmless provided the room is well ventilated.

How to apply acrylic nails?

Applying acrylic nails is a tricky method, you should pay close attention to get it perfectly done.

Watch the following video to understand how to do acrylic nails.

Step one: Sizing the tips if you’re planning on using them

If you’re satisfied with your nail length, you might want to skip this step.

But for those opting to extend the length of their fingers nails, the first step involves finding faux nail tips that match the shape of your fingernails.

If you can’t find tips that fit properly into your nails, go for an oversized tip then file the sides until they match the size and shape of your fingernails.

Step two: Applying the liquid and Powder

The next step after selecting nail tips involves adhering the tips to the nail bed.

Start by placing the liquid monomer and the powder polymer into two separate small-sized glass jars for easy access.

Once done, get a small brush and dip into both formulas and apply it on both the nail and tip after which you can join the two.

You have to note that this is the most delicate part of the process. If by any chance you didn’t apply the formulas correctly, the nails might appear crooked, lumpy or too thick.

Step three: Buffing and Filing

After applying the acrylic, the next step should be to buff and file the nails into your desired length and shape. Buffing the nails helps to remove the remaining acrylic debris.

Step Four: painting and Brushing

After applying the nail, go head and brush the nails with any nail polish colour you prefer. If you have a thing for long nails, the classic French manicure could be a great choice.

Whatever colour you prefer, one thing you’re guaranteed is that the colours will adhere to the acrylics longer than they would have had you applied on natural nails.

How to maintain acrylic nails?

Acrylic nails once applied will start to grow naturally with your fingernails. It’s therefore recommended that you return to your nail technician after every two to three weeks to get them filed and filled in.

During the visit, the technician will begin by filing the acrylic edges close to your nail bed, after which they’ll fill in the empty spaces between the acrylics and nail bed.

How to Remove these nails?

Removing acrylic nails is quite simple. All you have to do is soak your nails in nail polish for at least 15 minutes then wash them off.

Gel Nails

Unlike acrylics, gels have to be brushed over your nails three times—the base coat, the polish coat and lastly the top coat.

Each layer has to be cured using a UV gel nail dryer before the next layer is applied.

The process tends to be generally quicker when compared to acrylics, and probably one of the reasons gels are considered a serious competition for acrylics.
